Compost Program Ended

The Township's Leaf and Yard Waste Recycling Program, which provided curbside collection on most Wednesdays throughout the year, no longer provides residents with compost. The program, which complied with Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requirements, has already saved Haverford Taxpayers over $200,000.00.

The Township continues to collect yard waste and sells it and has it removed the Township immediately after collection as a result of odors that permeated the area near the Township's municipal yard.

All yard waste must be in brown biodegradable bags or trash cans that can be easily lifted (less than 40 pounds). Plastic bags cannot be used and WILL NOT be collected. Yard waste must be at your collection point by 6:30 a.m. In addition, the Township will collect brush, leaves, and branches that are less than 1-1/2 inches in diameter and less than 3 feet long. These items must be tied together, and bundled securely with twine or rope. Do not use wire.

The following materials are unacceptable and will not be collected:

•Litter/Trash/Garbage
•Grass Clippings
•Kitty Litter/Pet Manure
•Plastic bags
•Containers weighing more than 40 pounds
•Branches over 3 feet in length
•Branches over 1-1/2 inches in diameter
