Recent storms, including Hurricane Irene, have highlighted a number of concerns with service and communication with Peco, which provides gas and electricity to all residents of Haverford Township. For example, during and after Hurricane Irene, I received hundreds of calls, emails, and text messages complaining about Peco’s response, or lack of response, to the needs and concerns of residents of the 4th Ward. These complaints were echoed by others throughout the Township.

Consequently, Peco contacted me and has opened a dialogue designed to improve communication and service to residents. The first step in this process was a Town Meeting held on October 18, 2011 for residents of 5 wards, including the 4th Wards, and a second similar session on October 25, 2011 for the remaining Township residents. Residents could attend these sessions and speak directly with Peco officials to raise issues, learn from Peco experts, and enhance the dialogue with Peco. While every issue and concern was not resolved, I believe that we have begun a process that will benefit all residents of the Township.
